PRELUDIO OSB: THE ART OF CONSISTENCY

After being Uruguayan National Champion and Brazilian Gold Champion as a two and four-year-old, Preludio wasted no time once he arrived in the States and garnered National Championships at the Midsummer Nationals show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the United States Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A year later, in 2021, he was Champion Senior Stallion at the Breeders Finals show and National Champion Senior Stallion for a back-to-back win at the prestigious US Nationals. “Preludio has done a great job for us in the show ring and representing the farm,” Manny gleams.

WN JOHARA ALJASSIMYA: DEFYING ALL ODDS

She was a pretty dark grey filly when little “JoJo” was born in the beautiful hills and sanctuary of Aljassimya Farm in Santa Ynez, California. Upon being tested as a weanling, she tested positive for CA/CA, a genotype that will have cerebellar abiotrophy.

VOLUNTEERISM: A DYING AND ESSENTIAL ART

It’s a tough time to be a local Arabian club, and even the most profitable clubs in the US and Canada are feeling the pinch.

DANIEL C. GAINEY: A GREAT MAN AND HIS GREAT HORSE

Daniel Gainey made a name for himself as a salesman, then CEO of Jostens, Inc., the famous class ring company. The grandson of Irish immigrants, he knew hard work from childhood, and through determination, he rose from the boomtown of Bemidji to power and prestige. In 1939, he received an Arabian colt as a gift from the company’s salesmen, and from that moment, his heart belonged to horses.

STUD FARM DIARIES

ONCE A BROODMARE, ALWAYS A BROODMARE

I was happy to see “Saint” back again. We foaled her out last year, and she was a veteran. In fact, she had more than paid her way as a broodmare. This was going to be her 16th foal. I was disappointed in her condition — she was “ribby” and her coat was dull. Her owner brought her in about 14 days before she was due to foal and I noticed that the mare already had a very large udder.
