In 2024, classes were bigger than ever, and those who have missed shows that are truly “for the exhibitor” were grateful to flock to Red Deer, Alberta, to have a fun and successful week.

Sydney wasn’t sure if she would be able to make it to nationals this year after a horse accident in April left her with significant injuries that will still require physical therapy and other more invasive treatments to heal. 

A LEGENDARY SHOW FOR SHELBY PRESTON

After twenty-four years of showing, it was a thrill for Shelby to earn the coveted red rose blanket not just once but twice. 

AN ARABIAN AT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP HORSE SHOW

This year at Louisville, their granddaughter, Jenny Snyman, needed a horse for her 11-year-old equitation class. Although she gathered wins on various horses all season, she could not find a horse with the shortage of equitation horses in the Saddlebred industry.

“From the beginning, we wanted to make sure this was a program that served the people who use it,” Samantha Hillard, AHPA President and Co-Founder, said. “We want to support the breed, but also make sure that our program is accessible and enjoyable for all kinds of competitors. We are proud of the progress we have made in our classes and for the hunter pleasure horse.”
