Jamal Ibn Kamal PHA (Kamal Ibn Adeed x Farah Magidaa LDA), owned by John and Mary Reed, Peaceful Haven Arabians, and shown by Ted Carson, was the winner of the $3000 Award for his Junior Stallion Breeding Top Ten, fifth on judges’ cards.
“We can’t thank God enough for Jamal Ibn Kamal PHA (Kamal Ibn Adeed x Farah Magidaa LDA),” says John Reed. “My wife Mary would be the first one to say we don’t want no boy, but Jamal has been such a blessing since the day he was born.
“He has always loved showing off, yet Mary wanted to geld him. Mike Neal came to evaluate him for showing and told us ‘You don’t geld him, I’ll buy him first.’ Well that’s where his show career started. Jamal won the EBC class as a yearling, and then was sent to Ted Carson’s farm. Ted had him for about a week and called to tell us, ‘you have one nice colt here, and in my opinion, he has one of the nicest trots in the country.’ Well we never showed him an open class before, but Ted kept encouraging us, because he felt he could compete. We finally agreed and Jamal won. Then Ted said, ‘take him to U.S. Nationals, he has a very good chance, and they are giving away $3,000 for the highest scoring straight Egyptian at the show.’ So off we went and Jamal did great. He got Top Five, and won the Highest Scoring Straight Egyptian award. Many thanks to Gail Ahrens, Kathleen Petrelli, and MaryAnne Applegate for putting prize money up to encourage straight Egyptians to come to the Nationals.

Angels Envy (The Singleton x Mahroussat Mishaal), owned by Marion Daniel Head, RainMaker Arabians, and shown by Mike Wilson, was Senior Mare Breeding Top Ten, eighth on judges’ cards.
Mayaan Al Nadir SA (Ramses Mishaal Nadir x MB Maymaara), owned by Jillian Amato, Empire Egyptians, and shown by Mike Wilson, was Senior Stallion Breeding Top Ten, seventh on judges’ cards.
Amir Moudalal (Bellagio RCA x Zipporah Al Jannat), owned by Lisa Cleveland, and shown by Danny Thompson, was Senior Stallion Breeding Top Ten, eighth on judges’ cards.
Arabian Horses from the U.S, Canada, Europe, South America and the Middle East met in Tulsa, Oklahoma to vie for the U.S. National Championship titles and they did not disappoint. Among them were four straight Egyptian Arabians, whose owners and trainers believed in them and accepted the challenge of the first annual U.S. National Championship Straight Egyptian High Point Award.
The straight Egyptian mare and stallions competed magnificently, each earning a Top Ten in their respective classes. Competition was strong, as one would expect at the U.S. National Championships. What a thrill it was for all involved.
